MORSE is special software that converts a genetic sequence into a binary format that MEW can read. MEW is an AI disease risk prediction algorithm that was trained using more than 2,500 diagnosed dogs and more than 14,000 undiagnosed dogs to predict lifetime disease outcomes. Thanks to the large data set representing over 300 breeds (thousands of whom were screened at an advanced age) and the use of semi-supervised learning, MEW delivers results with up to 98% accuracy.
What You Learn from Each Panel
The panels predict your dog’s lifetime risk of cancer and cardiac disease using DNA collected from an oral swab. For each of the nine diseases, the results will say either:
- At risk
- Not at risk
- Uncertain
Note: There is no blood test involved, and “At risk” is not a diagnosis: It doesn’t mean your dog is currently sick and doesn’t detect early stages of disease.
